Beard care is not only about the right oil, balm or shampoo for your face companion. It´s also about the shave utensils, that keep it fresh and clean. Clean outlines, getting rid of some distant hair and skin moisture is as important as all the other stuff. So what does the big beard care market provide for their customers? We can get simple and well known razors by Gilette, Wilkinson and some cheaper brands! We find a million moisturizers in every drug store and after shaves in every shape and color. That is something for all men that do not feel comfortable with their stubbles and aren´t that much into beards. Personally I have been a big fan of the non high tech version of the Gilette Mach3 and some unknown after shave. Simple things and easy to use. But as I think you can do everything in style – may it be cooking, dressing, smoking etc. – you can shave in style too!
And when it comes to style, Noberu of Sweden is definitely a big player I think. The look of their products is simple and clean, but somehow offers a luxurious feeling as well, that makes me feel pretty comfortable – but first things first.
I got the chance to choose some stuff of their pretty wide product range, and as they not only offer oils, balms etc. I wanted to get more insights about some shaving items. So I chose their shaving cream, the after shave balm, a synthetic shaving brush and the plasic shavette. All the basic stuff you need for a good shave. Of course I have been a bit scared of using a shavette, but let´s start with the preparation! 🙂
Synthetic Shaving Brush – The main question that probably pops up to your mind is ”Why is it a synthetic one?” Well, Noberu simply answers this question with “As the process of making shaving brushes out of badger hair is cruelty to animals, we don´t want to support this kind of method in any way. This is why we produce synthetic brushes.” Well, nothing more to say! Good thing everyone should support and for 24,95 € you get a reallynice mid priced brush.
What I first recognized is the soft touch and very good ability to foam up your shaving cream. Easy and simple. In addition the brush has a very nice look and fits very good in your palm.
Shaving Cream – 100ml – The shaving cream comes in an aluminium can. A total of 100ml is filled in it and so far I think it will last pretty long, as I don´t need a lot for shaving my outlines once every week. It has a nice structure, but the scent is the main thing that will last in your mind. Very nice!
Prices for shaving creams in general vary extremely. You can get them in a 75ml tube or 100ml/150ml tin. This one here is about 19,95 € worth. Pretty expensive for a cream and you will definitely find cheaper ones, but it comes in style and smells awesome!
Ingredients: Aqua, Myristic Acid, Stearic acid, Glycerin, Glycol Distearate,Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol, Parfum
Plastic Shavette – So, what about the main shaving tool – the shavette? Honestly I have been a bit scared before I used it. I respect barbers a lot, as they swing their shavettes on bearded faces and don´t hurt anybody. Before using it the first time I knew that this is the best way to get your face shaved like a baby butt and that you can get the most detailed shaves possible. But what I also knew is, that I am gonna get hurt! But hey, Barbers are pros and I have to do it on my own face. So as a newby it took some minutes to figure out the right handling. Of course there are different ways so you simply need to find the right one for yourself. Nonetheless, after my first shave 3 beautiful cuts reminded me a whole week long that I am now competing on a pro level (as a rookie of course!). For all of you that are no plastic fans, there is a cool alternative, that honestly speaking looks even cooler than the plastic one!
The only “downside” would be the replaceable blade. Even though most commercial razors have a replaceable blade, a single edged razor is pro league when it comes to coolness. But let´s be honest. Shaving your own beard, and doing it every couple of days ourselves, all alone in front of our bathroom mirror, who needs the coolness? It´s about functionality. I am really happy with that nice shavette and the blades aren´t that expensive. 100 blade for 9,99 € Is pretty affordable. The plastic shavette has a rate of 23,00 €. When you shop around on the internet you will find a price range of 10,00 € to 40,00 €. I personally think this shavette is good value for money. When you are looking for a shavette to give it a try and use this one!
After Shave Balm – 125ml – I simply can´t hide the fact that I fell in love with the scent. It´s sooo good. It somehow reminds me of my first shaving experiments when I was a kid, but also creates a calming effect to my mind and soul, that I don´t want to miss anymore. In addition, this after shave balm will probably last a year, as 125ml is a lot! Spending 29,95 € for the balm will definitely be worth it, as even non bearded men will have problems using all of it within a short time frame. It´s pretty efficient.
Ingredients: Aqua, Carthamus tinctorius seed oil, Polyacrylamide, Hamamelis virginiana, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Argania Spinosa, Prunus amygdalus sativa kernel oil, Alcohol denat, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Parfum, Tocobiol, Menthol
So, all in all a very good choice I made and I can not only recommend Noberu of Sweden due to the quality of their products, no, even more because of their great range of products that covers all of your beard care needs and even offers some good hair and skin care products too. The luxurious style is a great add on and to me the cherry on the cake.
Just visit their side and browse around. I am sure you will find something interesting for your next shave!
With that being said, use a shavette and don´t kill yourself! 🙂
